Valencia, 2 December 2022. – Fundación Valenciaport, represented by its CEO, Antonio Torregrosa; the Director of International Development, Miguel Garín; and the Senior Consultant in Innovation and Port Strategy, Jonas Mendes, participated in the XXX Latin American Ports Congress – AAPA LATINO, held from 28 to 30 November in Santos (Brazil) and organised in strategic alliance between the Latin American Delegation of the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and Santos Port Authority.
AAPA LATINO is the main port event in Latin America, and has brought together, for the last thirty years, more than 600 participants including port authorities, executives, officials, industry suppliers, industry professionals and specialised media, who present and discuss port projects, investments and trends at regional and global level.
One of the most relevant sessions of the congress was the one held in the block “Port Talks – Strategic Debates” under the slogan “Dialogue between terminals, shipping lines and port authorities” which was moderated by Miguel Garín.
Investment gaps, environmental issues, advances in gender equality, challenges in labour issues, security, as well as other key industry issues were addressed in this strategic debate, with speakers including Carlos Urriola, President of Manzanillo International Terminal; Claudio Oliveira, Commercial and Marketing Director of Brasil Terminal Portuário; and Pablo Rizzo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Guayaquil.
At the end of the debate, an important collaboration agreement was also signed between AAPA and Fundación Valenciaport in matters of training and technical education.
