With the aim of continuing to provide strategic information to the port sector, the Port Authority of Valencia, with the collaboration of the Fundación Valenciaport, prepares a quarterly report on the global economic environment that will complement the data collected in the VCFI (Valencia Containerised Freight Index). The analysis will be carried out by the expert Vicente J. Pallardó, economic situation analyst and senior researcher at the Institute of International Economics (IEI).
These reports on the global economic environment aim to help understand the context in which commercial activity in general, and maritime activity in particular, takes place (and will do so in the near future) at a global level.
Each report, written in a simple and accessible way for all types of public, has three different sections. The first is “Economic Climate and Trends”, which provides a synthesised presentation, in the form of a traffic light, of the main elements that define the global economic environment (economic activity, trade and exchange rate tensions, monetary policy, fiscal policy, commodity markets and geopolitical tensions). The second section is a Situation Decalogue, in which the most important processes, data and decisions that occurred in the months prior to the drafting of the report, and which are fundamental to global economic evolution, are developed in greater depth. The third section is “Under the Microscope” and offers the reader, in greater detail, the possibility of knowing some of the events and processes which, with a perspective beyond the short term, affect the international economic situation and which are of special interest to the port community.
