Valencia, 28 February 2023. – This week has taken place, in online mode, the kick-off meeting of the European project VET_LOGICC “Responsive, Innovative and Inclusive vocational education and training in transport and logistics in Colombia and Costa Rica”, an initiative coordinated by the Fundación Valenciaport and funded by the Erasmus + programme.
The VET_LOGICC project aims to strengthen the vocational education and training system in two Latin American coastal countries (Costa Rica and Colombia) relevant to maritime transport and international trade, thanks to a three-axis methodology based on education and innovation, governance and the relationship with the labour market.
VET_LOGICC will contribute to development, employment and economic growth in Colombia and Costa Rica by creating an inclusive and sustainable network of educational and sectoral institutions, as well as better equipped individuals and organisations in the transport, logistics and ports sectors. To achieve this objective, an innovative methodology based on curriculum review and development and skills training in terminals and port operations, innovation, entrepreneurship, digitalisation and international mobility will be employed.
VET_LOGICC will transfer to Costa Rica and Colombia the best training practices of the ports of Valencia and Rotterdam, supported by three European entities with extensive experience in education and innovation: Fundación Valenciaport, STC International and CINOP. Two vocational technical education institutions, Sena (Colombia) and Cunlimón (Costa Rica) will act as end-users of the Vocational Training programme with the objectives of improving the skills and knowledge of instructors and students, having a better link with industry and establishing long-term partnerships between the EU and Latin America. The Colombian University Uninorte will facilitate the link between Latin American VET entities and European educational bodies. The knowledge generated will be disseminated and replicated between Europe and Latin American countries through a dissemination campaign.
The kick-off meeting of the project, which is expected to last 2 years, was attended by representatives of all project partners: the Fundación Valenciaport, which acts as coordinator, STC Group Holding B.V, CINOP B.V, Fundación Universidad del Norte, Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje de Colombia and Colegio Universitario de Limón.
