- During this period, the Fundación Valenciaport has developed more than 350 innovation projects, consolidating its position as a fundamental tool for positioning the Port of Valencia as a benchmark in environmental sustainability, energy transition and digital transformation.
- Some of the outstanding events of this week of celebrations are the public demonstration of the H2PORTS hydrogen project; the first congress of the Net-Zero MAR Alliance association; and the conference on digital transformation in the sector.
Valencia, November 27th, 2023. – This week, Fundación Valenciaport is celebrating 20 years at the service of the port logistics cluster with a full agenda of events related to innovation and training in the sector.
In the words of its director general, Antonio Torregrosa, “Fundación Valenciaport has far exceeded the expectations set out at the time of its creation. The objectives of creating an instrument to channel and promote R+D+i in the port logistics sector and at the same time offer specialised training of quality and updated content have been amply fulfilled”.
It should be noted that more than 350 innovation projects have been developed by Fundación Valenciaport during this period, consolidating itself as a fundamental tool for positioning the Port of Valencia as a benchmark in relevant issues such as environmental sustainability, energy transition, digital transformation and port security.
With regard to the Training area, many achievements have also been made. More than 900 courses offered, which translates into nearly 25,000 students and 63,000 hours of training given, with 12% of international students and an excellent percentage of employability, which is close to 100% in the Master’s Degree in Port Management and Intermodal Transport. Other outstanding programmes are the new course in Railway Machinist or the Advanced Vocational Training in International Trade “Port Logistics Specialisation”, milestones that respond to the needs of the port sector.
In terms of services to the port community, its Market Intelligence service undoubtedly stands out; the promotion of open innovation, with its Opentop initiative; and the new service for the promotion and financing of innovation “IMARPORT” which has recently been launched. Moreover, Fundación Valenciaport is also a benchmark for innovation in port logistics in Europe and especially in Latin America, where it has contributed to the development and modernisation of its port communities.
Program of Activities of the XX Anniversary of Fundación Valenciaport
Tomorrow Tuesday begins the program of activities of this XX Anniversary with the demonstration event of the hydrogen project H2PORTS, a day in which participants will be able to see live the mobile hydrogen supply station and the ReachStacker and the 4×4 hydrogen tractor head, the first in the world powered by this fuel and tested in real operation in a port terminal.
The same Tuesday at noon will be held the reunion of alumni of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport, an event that will bring together participants of the 32 editions and will consist of a boat trip to the Port of Valencia and a high-impact lecture by renowned motivational speaker Luis Galindo.
From Tuesday to Thursday afternoon will take place the first Congress and Exhibition of the Net-Zero MAR Alliance association, which during three intense days will discuss the European objectives of the so-called “Fit For 55” and the impact that its implementation will have on port infrastructure and the maritime sector in the European Union.
Wednesday afternoon will be the final event of the European project EALING, an initiative, led by Fundación Valenciaport which promotes the deployment of power supply systems to ships (OPS).
Thursday will also be a day full of activities starting with the final event of the GREEN C PORTS project, another initiative coordinated by the Foundation that focuses on the development of digitization tools and technologies to support the environmental sustainability of ports and the performance of port operations in the TEN-T core network. This will be followed by the final event of the Connect Valenciaport project, thanks to which the layout of the Port of Valencia’s rail network has been improved, allowing, among other achievements, the adaptation of the tracks to the European UIC gauge with the third rail solution and getting the Port of Valencia, as a key node of the Mediterranean Corridor, connected to the TEN-T network of infrastructures.
On Thursday evening, the great Gala of the Fundación Valenciaport 20th Anniversary will be held, an event that will take place in Veles e Vents and will bring together executives from the national and international port logistics sector as well as institutional representatives and will feature the intervention of Miguel Angel Sanchez Valero, director of Strategy and Business Transformation for companies like Walmart, Nike or McKinsey & Company, as guest speaker, who will give a keynote speech on challenges and opportunities for supply chains of the future.
The week of celebrations will conclude on Friday, December 1 with the conference “Challenges in the maritime-port sector: digital transformation, standardization and optimization“. At this event, to be held in the Assembly Hall of the Port Authority of Valencia, key players in the maritime port and logistics industry will present their point of view on the current challenges facing the sector in terms of digital transformation, emerging technologies and implementation of standards.
