Valenciaport reinforces its commercial services and its sustainability and training actions with Brazil

The commercial team of the Port Authority of Valencia has held working meetings with logistics and supply chain representatives at the ‘Intermodal South America’, the leading trade fair for the sector in Latin America.

In parallel to the work meetings, Valenciaport was invited to the Spain-Brazil Business Meeting organised by the Secretary of State for Trade, through ICEX Spain, and in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and the CEOE.

València, March 7th, 2024.- Valenciaport reinforces with Brazil its commercial services and its actions in the field of sustainability and training in the framework of the ‘Intermodal South America’ fair. The commercial team of the Port Authority of Valencia has held working meetings with logistics and supply chain representatives at what is the leading trade fair for the sector in Latin America.

In addition to their participation in the Fair, the representatives of the Port Authority of Valencia and Fundación Valenciaport who travelled to Brazil, Cristina Rodríguez (Commercial Manager), Francesc Sánchez (President of the Foundation) and Miguel Garín (International Director of the Foundation) participated in the Spain – Brazil Business Meeting organised by the Spanish Secretary of State for Trade, through ICEX Spain Export and Investment, and the Economic and Commercial Offices of the Spanish Embassy in Brazil in collaboration with CEOE and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

Both the Foundation and the Port attended as Spanish companies invited to attend the investment and business cooperation opportunities that are opening up in Brazil, and more specifically, in the state of Sao Paulo, mainly in the area of Transport Infrastructures, but also in others such as Water and Sanitation; Digitalisation (Agrotech, Cybersecurity, Digitalisation of Health and Smart Cities); Renewable Energies; and Tourism.

The representatives of “Valenciaport” – as a brand that brings together shared interests between the Port Authority and the Foundation – have closed several collaboration agreements on sustainability and training; the latter specialty in which the Foundation is an international benchmark in training and expertise for port management and intermodality.

Precisely, the president of Fundación Valenciaport, Francesc Sánchez, and the head of Commercial of the APV, Cristina Rodríguez have held a fruitful three-way meeting with the Minister of Ports and Airports of Brazil, Silvio Costa; the Executive Secretary of his ministry, Mariana Pesca Toro and the advisor-delegate of ICEX, Elisa Carbonell. They also held various bilateral meetings with Brazilian companies and institutions and with the President of ICEX, in which Miguel Garín, Director of International Development of Fundación Valenciaport, also participated.

This event, which will celebrate its 28th edition in 2024, is recognised worldwide as the leading trade fair in the fields of logistics and supply chain in Latin America. It is an annual event and, in its last edition, hosted 500 exhibitors from 20 countries and more than 40,000 visitors, mainly from South and North America.

Spain-Brazil Business Meeting

In parallel to the work meetings, Valenciaport has been invited to the Spain-Brazil Business Meeting organised by the Secretary of State for Trade, through ICEX Spain Export and Investment, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and the CEOE. The Business Forum was inaugurated by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, who greeted and talked with the representatives of Valenciaport.

According to Pedro Sánchez, Spain and Brazil share “cultural ties, political affinities and solid economic interests” due to their common membership of the Latin American community, said the President. These ties, politically framed in the 2003 Strategic Partnership Plan, have been reinforced at this meeting through the institutionalisation of a permanent consultation mechanism, which raises the level of the bilateral relationship and reflects its strategic nature.

As a result of this ‘excellent relationship’, Spain and Brazil have signed a Political Declaration in which they review the good progress of bilateral relations, addressing common interests and challenges, while pledging to continue cooperating in areas such as the defence of democracy, the fight against disinformation and hate speech, and the defence of international law through multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
