Valencia, 4 June 2024. – Opentop, Valenciaport’s Innovation Hub, has launched, in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Association (IDF), the IV Valenciaport Hackathon, an event to be held between 5th and 7th July, which will seek innovative and creative solutions to improve the efficiency, safety and sustainability of the logistics-port sector.
The IV Valenciaport Hackathon, which counts on the collaboration of experts from both APM Terminals and Infoport, with the experience in powering hackathons of Innova & Acción and with the co-financing of the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE), will include 3 interesting challenges related to sustainability, safety and security, and cybersecurity; challenges proposed by Bergé, Valencia Terminal Europa (VTE) and IDF Association partnering up with Port Authority of Valencia, respectively.
This initiative, which seeks professionals, entrepreneurs and students, experts in new technologies, business development, marketing and communication, among other disciplines, has increased the number of prizes on offer this year. The main prize is an economic endowment of 3,000 euros, granted by the Juan Arizo Serrulla Foundation (FJAS); a second prize of 2,000 euros, provided by The Whiteam; and followed by a third prize of 1,000 euros provided by Propeller Valencia. Another novelty to highlight in this fourth edition is the incorporation of a special prize of 2,000 euros for the most energy-sustainable solution, awarded by Naturgy which is compatible with the other three prizes.
For three days, participants will be able to develop innovative solutions to try solving the challenges proposed, with the advice and support of expert mentors in ports, innovation and new technologies belonging to partner entities.
In addition to gaining visibility before large corporations in the sector, participants will receive master classes from specialists, work in high-performance multidisciplinary teams, and develop important skills such as Design Thinking, validation and testing of prototypes, SWOT analysis, preparation of Business Model Canvas, and preparation of a Pitch to defend their final solution before a professional jury.
During the grand finale, the participating teams will present their proposals to a jury made up of the organisers and collaborators of the IV Hackathon Valenciaport, who will select the winning proposals.
The IV Valenciaport Hackathon will combine the professional and academic knowledge and experience of the participants with the know-how of the logistics-port community to promote new solutions that favour the sustainable development of smart ports. The IV edition of this Opentop event is consolidating itself as an extraordinary opportunity for the Spanish innovation ecosystem to inspire the port & logistics industry to turn their ideas into concrete solutions.
The registration period is now open after the official launch of the IV Hackathon Valenciaport and will close on June, 30th.
