Valencia, June 26th, 2024.- 260 registered participants and 115 institutions from 41 different countries. These are the main figures of the IAME 2024 Annual Conference whose inauguration was held this morning at the Valencia Port Authority headquarters.
The Conference was opened by Francesc Sánchez, President of Fundación Valenciaport; Antonio Torregrosa, General Director of Fundación Valenciaport; Rosa María Donat, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Transfer of the University of Valencia; Enrique Belda, Director of the Port Authority of Valencia; José Luís Diez, General Director of Strategic Projects of GVA; and Elvira Haezendonck, President of IAME.
The opening ceremony was followed by the panel discussion ‘Risks in the Maritime Industry’ – moderated by Aurelio Martínez, scientific director of the IAME 2024 Conference – with the participation of Isabelle Ryckbost, secretary general of ESPO; Ignacio Ballester, deputy director general of MSC Spain; and Javier Romeu, CEO of TIBA.
The International Association of Maritime Economists, IAME, brings together researchers and international industry leaders for three days in Valencia to discuss the future of the maritime economy in an environment marked by geopolitical conflicts, rapid technological evolution and global climate change.
Under the slogan “Building innovative maritime ecosystems: smart, green and valuable for society”, the aim of this meeting is to promote new collaborations between academia, government and industry to respond to global challenges.
These challenges and the challenges facing the maritime industry will be analysed from today until 28 June at the IAME 2024 Conference, co-organised by the University of Valencia (UV), its Institute of International Economics – through the Chair of Port Economics – and the Port Authority of Valencia – with the prominent participation of Fundación Valenciaport.
