The project has analysed the environmental impact of maritime activity in several Southeast Asian countries, identifying practices that can be improved and establishing appropriate communication mechanisms for transferring knowledge from Europe.
The study has provided an overview of maritime transport in Asia, focusing on aspects related to safety and the environment. Scenarios have also been developed for the transfer of best practices from Europe to Asia and a training scheme has been designed specifically for the Administration in various different Asian countries, including Vietnam.
The specific training and dissemination activities that were carried out included communicating the state-of-the-art of best practices in the field of safety and the environment in maritime transport in Europe; holding a training seminar and two conferences in Vietnam to disseminate project results; and creating an online network for exchanging information and experiences among sector professionals.
