CONNECTING SAGUNTO – IMPROVEMENT OF RAIL CONNECTIVITY, SAFETY AND SECURITY OF THE PORT OF SAGUNTO

Imagen Connecting Sagunto

The port of Sagunto is a comprehensive port in the TEN-T network managed by the Port Authority of Valencia.

Recently, it became a leading Spanish comprehensive port on the Mediterranean Corridor for vehicle and general cargo traffic, goods with a high potential for accelerating modal shift from road to rail.

CONNECTING SAGUNTO will improve the port of Sagunto’s hinterland connections and its safety and security through three actions:

  • Internal rail network at the port-logistic area
  • Border Inspection Centre for inspections of goods
  • Network of security cameras in the port critical areas

By increasing the capacity and security of the Port of Sagunto, CONNENTING SAGUNTO will enhance the traffic from shippers along the Mediterranean Corridor and contribute to make the Port of Sagunto an efficient and sustainable entry and exit point fully integrated in the TEN-T network. This will also contribute to the accessibility and connectivity of Valencia and the other regions integrated in the natural hinterland of the Port.
