Valencia – 10.01.20. During yesterday afternoon took place a new session of the Innovation Committee of the Cluster of Valenciaport, held in the facilities of #SuperLabPorts and that counted with the participation of Stefan Wiech, Consultant of Technological Strategy in the firm HPC (Hamburg Port Consulting) as guest speaker.
It should be remembered that the Innovation Committee arose as a result of the development and implementation of the R+D+i Plan of the Logistics Community of the Port of Valencia, an initiative led by the Fundación Valenciaport and supported by the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) and the Valencian Agency for Innovation (AVI).
This project was developed as a strategic tool for promoting the innovation priorities of the companies that make up the port community of Valenciaport, identifying and analysing the most relevant trends that will condition competitiveness in the sector and proposing lines of action in the field of R+D+i aimed at the challenges posed in the short, medium and long term. For the development of the plan, work was carried out with the different groups that make up the cluster, as well as with relevant agents in the Valencian science and technology system, subsequently creating the Innovation Committee as the governing body responsible for giving continuity to what has been achieved in 2018 by monitoring the progress of the different lines of innovation.
During the meeting, a review was made of the evolution of the three working groups that are currently underway within the framework of the Innovation Committee: “Integral traceability of containers and equipment”, “Control of access to the port, terminals and inland warehouses” and “Planning and Optimization of Maritime-Port Operations”. The creation of a new group dedicated to climate change and environmental sustainability within the framework of the “Zero Net Emissions 2030” strategy of Valenciaport was also approved. In addition, funding opportunities linked to ongoing innovation initiatives were discussed and the entry of Isidoro Vicente Martín, Innovation Coordinator of Baleària, as a new member of the Innovation Committee of the Valenciaport Cluster was approved.
