- This is an initiative promoted by the Port Authority of Valencia to reduce the environmental impact of the trucks that operate in its facilities.
Valencia – 05.03.20. Yesterday, a collaborative workshop for the road transport sector organised by the Fundación Valenciaport took place at the facilities of #SuperLabPorts.
This participative session was organised as part of an initiative promoted by the Port Authority of Valencia whose aim is to define the Road Map for reducing the environmental impact of trucks that regularly operate in the port of Valencia.
The aim of this first session was to find out the sector’s vision of the challenges it faces, by presenting its past experiences, its future prospects and its opinion of the current context.
The participants worked, organized in three groups and coordinated throughout by members of the Innovation and Cluster Development team of the Fundación Valenciaport. In the three collaborative workstations presented, topics such as the advantages and disadvantages of the different present and future technological alternatives were discussed; the initiatives underway and possible actions to reduce the environmental impact of their activity; and the problems they encounter when operating in the port area.
The results of this workshop will contribute to the proposal of an action plan to achieve significantly more sustainable land transport in the port of Valencia. In addition to the collaborative sessions, a detailed study of the current situation of the fleet operating in the port of Valencia and the particularities and idiosyncrasies of the sector will be carried out. All this will be the basis for the analysis of the economic and technical viability of the available technologies and the reference for proposing packages of measures in the short, medium and long term, with the aim of favouring the energy transition of the land transport sector for containers.
