Valencia – 13.05.20. On 27th May at 17:00 hrs. the seventh port logistics webinar will be held, organised by the Fundación Valenciaport, under the title “Container terminal automation: current status and future trends”, which will be given by José Andrés Giménez, director of Port Logistics of the Fundación Valenciaport.
This webinar will analyse, from different perspectives, how the rapid technological evolution and development of the so-called Industry 4.0 model can accelerate the technological transformation of the logistics-port sector and specifically of container port terminals, as is happening in other key sectors.
In the port area, although automated container terminals have existed for decades, the development of scientific and technological disciplines such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, mass data analysis and robotics may be creating the basis for a disruptive transformation of the sector in the coming years.
The webinar will present the existing terminal automation models and the main trends related to the new terminal management systems based on cloud computing, fleet management systems, real-time process control, etc. Likewise, the implications that automation may have on current and future professional profiles in the sector will be analysed.
It should be remembered that this activity is part of the cycle of free webinars on the main trends in the port logistics cluster that the Fundación Valenciaport has launched with the aim of offering the sector a fun option for training and updating during the period of confinement resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The frequency of these webinars (previously weekly) will now be fortnightly to alternate with the new cycle of webinars organised by the Fundación Valenciaport in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP).
