Valencia – 07.09.20. The Fundación Valenciaport has signed an important technical collaboration with the public company Portos de Paraná with the main objective of modernizing the Brazilian ports of Paranaguá and Antonina through the simultaneous development of four technical assistance in the areas of technology, innovation and training.
The proposals presented by the Fundación Valenciaport are pioneering in Brazil and include reference digitalization strategies in the most important and efficient ports in the world.
According to the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luis Fernando García, “having the Fundación Valenciaport by our side, helping with these strategic projects, will transform our ports for the future. It is a recognized institution and Paraná wants to absorb this knowledge to stay at the forefront among Brazilian ports. I am sure it will be one of the historical milestones in international cooperation”.
Among the projects, the future design of the port community system (PCS) of Portos do Paraná stands out. This system will connect the multiple systems used by different organizations involved in the logistics-port activity, integrating information from the entire logistics chain, marking a before and after in the way the port and its port community operate.
On the other hand, the innovative proposal to implement the Port Collaborative Decision Making (PortCDM) system in the ports managed by Porto do Paraná also stands out. With this technical assistance, a new digital model will be developed to manage maritime operations, in real time, among all the agents involved in the arrival and departure of ships. “The port of Paranaguá was chosen as a pilot and will be the first in Latin America to develop a platform of this type. Together with the port of Valencia, it will be among the first in the world to apply this concept. PortCDM is an incredible innovation and Paraná will be a reference for ports in all countries,” evaluates the Director of this Project of the Valenciaport Foundation, Jonas Mendes Constante.
Finally, the cooperation will address the issue of digital security and data protection technology, with a totally innovative technical assistance as it is a cyber security action specially designed for administrations and port operators.
According to the Director of International Development of the Valenciaport Foundation, Miguel Garín Alemany, “the intention is to accompany and help Portos do Paraná in the execution of its digital transformation. This partnership between the two entities started in a series of conversations about what Portos do Paraná planned for the future and what the Foundation envisioned for Latin America. This meeting of ideas allowed us to discuss an unprecedented joint effort in a Latin American port.
The projects will be completely bilingual and will also provide for the training of the employees of the public company Portos do Paraná in the construction of an “intelligent port”, using automation and innovative technologies to improve performance. “The more competitive our human resources are, the more competitive our ports will be. We will develop a training program in strategic port management, talent management, commercial port management, as well as energy efficiency and environmental management,” explains Ana Rumbeu Daviu, Training Director of the Fundación Valenciaport.
With the development of these initiatives, which began last August and whose schedule will extend over 12 months, it is expected that the Ports of Paraná will gain prominence on the European scene, attracting new investment and increasing movements.
