Fundación Valenciaport participates in the Cyrene project that will improve the security and reliability of supply chains

Valencia – 14.10.2020. The kick-off meeting of the CYRENE (Certifying the Security and Resilience of Supply Chain Services) project, an initiative co-funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme, which has brought together 14 partners from 10 countries with the common objective of improving supply chain information security, is taking place today and tomorrow.

This project, led by Magglioli SPA and in which Fundación Valenciaport is participating, has a total budget of around 5,000,000 euros and is scheduled to be developed over a period of 36 months, ending in August 2023.

CYRENE will achieve its goal by providing a novel and dynamic Conformity Assessment Process (CAP) that assesses the security and resilience of supply chain services, the interconnected IT infrastructures that make up these services and the individual devices that support operations. In particular, the proposed Conformity Assessment Process will support the various supply chain security operators to recognise, identify, model and dynamically analyse cyber risks. In addition, it will support the forecasting, handling and response to advanced persistent threats and manage the day-to-day risks, incidents and data breaches of cyber security and privacy.

In particular CYRENE will base its demonstrations on exploring the security challenges involved in the vehicle transport chain service. This service is an enormously complex system with numerous players, including shippers, manufacturers and transport operators involving the manufacture, shipment and delivery of various types of vehicles and equipment, such as trucks, vans, truck trailers, threshing machines etc.

In short, CYRENE, based on existing security certifications such as Supply Chain Security and Resilience, EU Cybersecurity Act, ISO28001, ISO 27001, ISPS, NIS, Security Certification Schemes, etc., has as its main result the definition of an ICT security certification scheme for the supply chain.
