Valencia – 26.02.21. Last week, a coordination meeting was held between the Directorate General for Vocational Training and Special Regime Education of the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, Fundación Valenciaport and the Pere Boil Secondary School in Manises to launch the new Port Logistics Specialisation VET programme, an initiative that will begin in the 2022-2023 academic year.

This programme, a pioneer in the VET sector in the Valencian Community and in the field of commerce, logistics and transport, places the emphasis on the port environment in order to respond to the needs of a sector that employs 38,000 people every year, according to the latest economic impact report of the Port of Valencia.

Fundación Valenciaport is leading this innovative initiative that will train higher vocational training technicians in port operations related to international trade, transport and logistics to meet the requirements of the various agents operating in the port ecosystem. Work is currently underway to adapt some of the contents of the VET in International Trade and Transport and Logistics, so that this new specialisation programme can be taken once the students have completed their second year.

The programme will be taught at the Pere Boil Secondary School, which will act as a pilot for this initiative, and will be bilingual, based on digitalisation and innovation, and will include innovative methodologies, workshops and simulations. In addition, it will reinforce the international vision with the possibility of internships for students abroad.

On the other hand, the teaching staff will also be able to carry out internships in companies, and will be trained each year in port logistics subjects. This training will be carried out by Fundación Valenciaport.

Dual VET Port Immersion and the European project YEP MED

Fundación Valenciaport adds this initiative to the Port Immersion Dual Vocational Training (FP Dual Inmersión Portuaria) that it launched in September 2020 together with the IES Pere Boil, Abastos and Luis Suñer, and the European project YEP MED (Young Employment in Ports of the Mediterranean) co-financed by the ENI CBCMED programme in which the Valenciaport Foundation participates as a partner and which will contribute to meeting the skills needs required by the logistics-port labour market through vocational training in several countries of the Mediterranean basin (Spain, Italy, France, Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan).
