Infoport and Fundación Valenciaport will facilitate freight transport operations thanks to the ASIGNAT project

Valencia – 22.09.21. Yesterday was held the kick-off meeting of the ASIGNAT project (Architecture of digital twins and machine learning services for planning in land transport of goods), an initiative co-financed by the Agència Valenciana de la Innovació (AVI) and the European Union through the ERDF, coordinated by Infoport Valencia and in which the Fundación Valenciaport participates, whose purpose is the design and development of tools that facilitate and enable better decision making in the operation of land transport of goods in port supply chains.

Thanks to this initiative, which has a total budget of 530,000 euros, the following results are expected to be achieved:

  • Specify and develop a system for real-time calculation and updating of the ETA, with quality information obtained from both transport information systems and on-board communications platforms, which will have the capability to continuously send sensor information to a central cloud infrastructure, with an open architecture.
  • Design and develop intelligent tools based on machine learning for the optimal planning and allocation of multimodal routes, based on the collection and analysis of historical data from all the information collected from the routes.
  • Implement a digital twin model of transport vehicle fleets that allows, being continuously connected to the physical objects, to update the data to reflect changes in the sensor variables of interest. This data will be used by machine learning algorithms for ETA prediction or assignment planning.
  • To increase the degree of digitalisation of existing processes in land transport companies, while obtaining optimum performance in transport operations, allowing the visualisation of information that helps decision-making, such as forecasting the arrival of vehicles at loading/unloading points, information on service times at loading/unloading points (queues at terminals, waiting at loaders…) or the updating of forecast information en route (traffic status, incidents…). To this end, all the tools and algorithms will be integrated into a service architecture model that facilitates interconnection with the different data sources, as well as their sharing in a secure environment.

Project consortium:

ASIGNAT involves the participation of four Valencian partners: Infoport Valencia, Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Wimtruck and Fundación Valenciaport.
