Valencia, 7 July 2022. – The 30th edition of the Master’s Degree in Port Management and Intermodal Transport was officially closed this midday, in a ceremony that brought together a large group of representatives of the port logistics community and was chaired by Aurelio Martínez, president of the Port Authority of Valencia ( PAV); Francesc Sánchez, director of the PAV; José E. Capilla, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV); Álvaro Rodríguez, president of the State Ports Public Agency; Antonio Torregrosa, general director of Fundación Valenciaport; and Ana Rumbeu, director of Training of Fundación Valenciaport.
Aurelio Martínez welcomed the attendees and expressed his satisfaction for finally being able to resume the celebration of this event after its cancellation for two consecutive years due to the pandemic. On the other hand, the president of the PAV has emphasized, once again, the relevance of training as an element of competitiveness for companies: “there are more and more challenges that we face the ports and therefore the professionals who work in them and that in turn make necessary an increasingly demanding training”. Finally, he stressed that a key element of this Master program remains its high percentage of employability, “which is around 100%” thanks to the high level of training received and the internships carried out by students in companies in the sector.
Next, Martínez announced the extraordinary conference of Alvaro Rodríguez, “undoubtedly the finishing touch to close this 30th edition and the 30 years of training in the port”, who has made a dissertation on “Port governance in times of crisis”. During his speech, the president of Puertos del Estado reviewed the points that, in his opinion, are key to port governance, such as the need to reduce administrative procedures; the importance of coordination, collaboration and cooperation between port authorities and the need to continue the alliance between the public and private sectors to “achieve co-creation in the economic, social and environmental dimension”.
Then, the Rector of the UPV took the floor and congratulated “the PAV, the Fundación Valenciaport and all those who make this Master’s Degree possible”, “a program very close to reality, at the forefront of knowledge and technology, and which has already internalized the challenges of digital transformation and ecological transition”. She also wanted to encourage the students to continue their training “since graduation is not the end of anything, it is a beginning that should not conclude the training stage”.
Then, the Director of Training of Fundación Valenciaport proceeded to the presentation of diplomas to the students of the 28th and 29th edition who have completed their Master’s degree project. With the 27 new graduates, nearly 1,000 professionals and young university students have completed this postgraduate program.
Ana Rumbeu then presented the diplomas of recognition to the most outstanding students of this edition. The best team of the 30th promotion of the Master was formed by the students Roberto Arzo Martí, Alejandro Folch Ruiz, Carlos Garrido López and Jorge Silleras Barceló; and the best academic records were awarded to Jorge Silleras Barceló, Carmina Montamarta Epila and Alejandro Folch Ruiz.
Afterwards, Ana Rumbeu gave the floor to Roberto Arzo and Carolina Wuth, students of the 30th edition, who gave a speech on behalf of the students who finish their academic program today.
Afterwards, Antonio Torregrosa took the floor and invited the students to stay connected to the Fundación Valenciaport by joining the Alumni Association, through the job bank or by participating in open innovation projects within the framework of its new Opentop initiative. In addition, Torregrosa has advanced some of the novelties of the 31st edition of the Master, whose start is scheduled for next October 13 and in which digitalization will have great relevance, will incorporate new activities in the international field and will enhance the field of entrepreneurship and open innovation.
Finally, the director of the Port Authority of Valencia, Francesc Sánchez, took the floor to close the event.
