Valencia, 4 August 2022.- The call for the I Startup Incubation Programme of Opentop, Valenciaport’s open innovation hub, closed last Sunday with more than 50 startups registered.
The initiative, led by the Fundación Valenciaport with the support of Telefónica Open Future, launched for this call four interesting challenges related to the port logistics sector, obtaining great support from the national and international entrepreneurial ecosystem.
In the coming weeks, a professional committee made up of representatives of the Fundación Valenciaport, Telefónica Open Future and leading profiles in the sector, will evaluate the applications to make a pre-selection among the candidates.
Those projects that pass this first cut will compete in a Pitch Day, on 22 September, in front of a jury made up of specialists from the port logistics sector and experts in innovation and entrepreneurship who will assess their suitability to form part of the 1st Opentop Incubation Programme.
The selected startups will start the incubation programme in October and, during the 3 months of duration, they will have access to a personalised programme, with expert and qualified mentors from the port logistics industry, business mentors, sales, communication, etc., selected according to their needs to maximise their media impact and boost their projects. In addition, the incubated startups will have access to the business cluster of the Port of Valencia to validate their initiatives, and to the investment ecosystem of Telefónica Open Future to find funding opportunities.
The challenges of the 1st Call for the Opentop Startup Incubation Programme
This first Opentop call featured four challenges from the port logistics sector.
One of the challenges was the one proposed by TransBase SOLER, aimed at creating the container of the future, smarter and more efficient, single-use, but at the same time recyclable and sustainable. Another challenge was presented by the Port Authority of Valencia with the aim of bringing the port closer to the citizens through the use of gamification.
The other two challenges are Opentop’s own, the first with the objective of moving towards a port with zero net emissions, and the second with the objective of improving the exchange of information between the agents in the logistics chain.
The startups that are finally selected and continue their journey in the 1st Opentop Incubation Programme, will be accompanied to solve these challenges with their innovative solutions.
Opentop faces this new stage of study and review of the projects with great enthusiasm and without forgetting that in a few weeks they will again be open to talent and innovation with the upcoming launch of the 1st Call for the Acceleration programme, designed to promote the growth of startups and projects in more advanced stages.
