Valencia, 18 November 2022. – Fundación Valenciaport has started working on technical assistance for the Port of Bahía Blanca (Argentina), which includes the preparation of the environmental report, obtaining PERS certification, advice for the creation of an environmental group in the port community and the development of an Action Plan for the development of future strategies.
This week, the technicians Alicia Martí and Pilar Sánchez, members of the Innovation and Development team of the Cluster of Fundación Valenciaport and specialists in environmental issues, have travelled to Argentina to hold several working meetings with the president and the board of directors of the Port of Bahía Blanca and to set up this technical assistance, which is being coordinated by the Director of International Development of Fundación Valenciaport, Miguel Garín.
The preparation of the Environmental Report will be the first task to be undertaken, and will include aspects such as the analysis of the competition, the definition of the structure of the contents, the collection and processing of the information, as well as the preparation, design, layout and editing of the final deliverable.
With regard to obtaining the Port Environmental Review System (PERS), after the written expression of interest of the port of Bahía Blanca to the organisation called ECOPORTS, the tasks of registration, self-diagnosis-SDM, application and initiation of the process, preparation of the documentation and final verification will be carried out.
Fundación Valenciaport will also advise the port of Bahia Blanca in setting up a working group with the port community. The objective of this group is to contribute to the establishment of a common environmental strategy in line with Community legislation in this field. This is an innovative initiative for continuous improvement in port management and strategy.
Finally, Fundación Valenciaport will draw up an Action Plan / roadmap based on those aspects that the Port of Bahía Blanca wishes to develop and implement derived from the results of the preparation of the Report and the obtaining of the PERS/ECOPORTS Certificate, designing the steps to follow in order to obtain these improvements.
This technical assistance will also include a week of training in Valencia for two representatives of the Port of Bahía Blanca, where they will be able to learn about the best practices of the experts of Fundación Valenciaport and the Port Authority of Valencia.
