The Fundación Valenciaport trains 21 Brazilian managers in port management and strategy

  • This week the course «International Certificate in Port Strategy and Management» is being held at the Fundación Valenciaport facilities.

Valencia, 19 September 2023. – This week the course «International Certificate in Port Strategy and Management», given by the Fundación Valenciaport in its facilities, will train 21 Brazilian managers of ports and private companies linked to the sector, an initiative that comes from the Brazilian Association of Port Terminals (ABTP).

The course, which was inaugurated yesterday by Antonio Torregrosa, general director of the Fundación Valenciaport; Francesc Sánchez, director of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV); and Claudia Borges, executive director of the Brazilian Association of Port Terminals (ABTP), aims to present to the participants the current panorama of the industry and the new trends in the sector, as well as to present the good practices and innovation projects developed by the Fundación Valenciaport, the Port of Valencia and the companies of the Valencian port cluster.

For one week, executives from the Fundación Valenciaport and the APV, together with other professionals from the sector, will train participants in subjects such as: port planning, strategy and quality; port competitiveness and operations; environmental management, energy transition, new fuels and climate change; digital transformation and innovation; and port security and cybersecurity, among others.

In addition to the theoretical subjects, the course includes different technical visits: to the Port of Valencia; to the CSP Valencia container terminal (Cosco Group), to the Temagra bulk terminal, to the Valencia Terminal Europa ro-ro terminal; and to the Saggas facilities; to the Port Control Centre and to the Megaports security system.

The closing ceremony will take place on Friday, during which the Director of Training of the Fundación Valenciaport, Ana Rumbeu, and the Senior Consultant in Port Innovation and Strategy, Jonas Mendes, will present the diplomas to the participants.

This course has been a new opportunity to make contact with Brazilian ports and identify potential collaborations in numerous fields (port development, quality management, new technologies, environment, energy efficiency, open innovation, etc.).
