Valencia, 13th November 2023.– The conference “Challenges in the maritime-port sector: digital transformation, standardisation and optimisation” will take place on 1 December in the Assembly Hall of the Valencia Port Authority. This event, organised by Fundación Valenciaport as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, will bring together the main players in the maritime-port and logistics industry to present their point of view on the current challenges facing the sector in terms of digital transformation, emerging technologies, and the application of standards.
Both maritime transport and port logistics are undergoing a rapid and complex transformation process. The new configuration of supply chains in the post-COVID scenario, the conflict in Ukraine, rising prices due to the energy crisis and climate change as a backdrop, characterize the current framework of uncertainty.
In this context of disruption and high volatility, the port-logistics sector and maritime transport must provide a global response to adapt to the new challenges and scenarios posed. Industry 4.0 technologies have an indisputable impact on port transformation on its way towards the Port 4.0 model, where digitalization and standardization are a lever to harmonise operational processes and efficiently exchange the information shared by ships and ports.
On the other hand, disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) or sensor networks are already being tested in logistics-port environments for the digitalization of processes that contribute to the competitiveness of ports.
Likewise, digitalization is a key driver in the integration and interoperability of the different modes of transport, contributing to the exchange of information in the multimodal logistics chain in an efficient, simplified, and harmonised way.
All these issues will be discussed in depth at this international conference organised by Fundación Valenciaport, which has been a pioneer and leader in innovation and training at the service of the logistics-port cluster for 20 years.
