Luis Fernando García expressed his satisfaction at “being able to receive Francesc Sánchez and show him all the projects and collaborations we are developing together”.

For his part, the president of the Foundation affirmed that “Portos do Paraná has a strategic vision very similar to the one we have in the Port of Valencia, with a commitment to efficiency, transparency, new technologies and sustainability. I also had the opportunity to see first hand the immediate projects that Portos do Paraná has in mind to increase the efficiency of the current facilities and to increase the capacity of the port. The truth is that these are spectacular projects”.

The collaboration between Fundación Valenciaport and Portos do Paraná dates back to 2020, when both entities signed a technical cooperation agreement to implement new port operations management systems and integrate the entire logistics chain in the ports of Paraná.

The most recent result of this partnership between Spain and Brazil is the signing of an agreement to join the Brazilian Alliance for the Decarbonisation of Ports. The agreement took place during the 28th edition of Intermodal South America – International Fair of Logistics, Freight Transport and Foreign Trade, at the São Paulo Expo. The objective is to exchange experiences and information to accelerate the process of decarbonisation of the Brazilian port sector.

Between February and March this year, Portos do Paraná visited Valencia and participated in the Energy Transition and Port Decarbonisation Programme promoted by the Foundation. The course was attended by two representatives of the public company and 25 other representatives of the Brazilian port sector, including four from Paranaguá. It was an opportunity to learn about good practices and innovation projects developed by the Port of Valencia, especially in the field of green hydrogen. Portos do Paraná has also signed a study agreement with Fundación Valenciaport to inventory the atmospheric emissions of the ports of Paraná, the so-called carbon footprint. Amongst the projects analysed is the recovery of 190 000 m² of forest in Antonina.
