  • The 3rd edition of the Fundación Valenciaport’s ‘Programme for the joint award of the Train Driver’s Licence and Driving Diploma’ is now open for enrolment and will begin on 1 July.

Valencia, May 7th, 2024. – The State Railway Safety Agency (AESF) has recently published the list of successful candidates in the last call for the Machinist’s Licence. For the first time, Fundación Valenciaport has participated in these tests as a training centre, achieving excellent results with a pass rate of 90% in both the theoretical and practical tests.

In the words of the Training Director of Fundación Valenciaport, Ana Rumbeu, “setting up this course has been a great challenge for us and we are very satisfied with these first results and with having been able to offer training that is highly demanded by the sector”.

With the launch of the ‘Programme for the joint award of the Train Driver’s Licence and Driving Diploma‘, Fundación Valenciaport became, in February 2023, the first AESF-approved training centre linked to a port.

The aim of the course, the second edition of which is currently underway, is to prepare students to obtain the Driving Licence and Diploma which accredits the holder to drive trains on the General Interest Railway Network (RFIG).

The programme includes a total of 1,150 teaching hours, of which 650 hours are devoted to theoretical training and the other 500 hours to practical training with CSP Logitren, with whom the Foundation has signed a training agreement.

With the aim of achieving a better and more specialised training, the students will be able to enjoy during the course different visits, workshops, and practices in the Port of Valencia itself and also in different railway facilities.

The director of CSP Logitren, Pedro Catalán, has also expressed his satisfaction: “This is great news. We have always been very excited about this project and with the help of the Foundation we managed to materialise it. It has been months of hard work and dedication, but these magnificent results give us the strength to continue adding up. We are very proud. CSP Logitren has been training train drivers on board its locomotives for many years and with this project we are demonstrating our clear commitment to this sector. We are training train drivers for the future and we are proud to give them this opportunity and congratulations to all of them!

Registration is now open for the 3rd edition

After the success of the 1st edition and with the students of the 2nd edition already in the training phase on board Logitren trains, Fundación Valenciaport is already preparing the 3rd edition of the programme, whose classes are expected to begin on 1st July and which will have a maximum of 20 students enrolled.
