- The closing ceremony of the 32nd edition of the MGPT was held yesterday, an event chaired by Enrique Belda, general director of the Port Authority of Valencia; Vicente Boluda Fos, president of Boluda Corporación Marítima; Antonio Torregrosa, general director of Fundación Valenciaport; Vicent Esteban Chapapría, Professor of Ports and Coasts of UPV and academic director of the Master; and Ana Rumbeu, director of Training of Fundación Valenciaport.

Valencia, July 5th, 2023. – Yesterday evening, Fundación Valenciaport held the closing ceremony of the 32nd edition of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport (MGPT) and the awarding of degrees to the students of previous editions, in a ceremony chaired by Enrique Belda, general director of APV; Vicente Boluda Fos, president of Boluda Corporación Marítima; Antonio Torregrosa, general director of the Fundación Valenciaport; Vicent Esteban Chapapría, Professor of Ports and Coasts of UPV and Academic Director of the Master; and Ana Rumbeu, director of Training of Fundación Valenciaport.
Enrique Belda, who welcomed the attendees, emphasised the high level of the Master’s training programme, which “has not only been a pillar in the training of professionals in the sector for more than three decades, but also prepares to continue leading in the future, continually adapting to the new realities and demands of the global market”. “This programme has been fundamental for almost 1,000 graduates, both professionals and young university students, many of whom today occupy relevant positions in companies and entities in the sector, present today at the show”.
Following this, the general director of APV gave the floor to Vicente Boluda Fos, patron of this edition, who gave the keynote speech “Spanish maritime transport, engine of the blue economy” in which he explained the great relevance of this mode of transport: “a key economic sector, creator of value, engine of growth and which paves the way for a greater demand for national products and services”. Boluda added that this sector “has a very important multiplier effect on the rest of the economy, both in terms of gross added value and employment”. He also highlighted the recovery of passenger movements, which are key to the economic viability of many island and inter-island maritime services, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as “the great challenges that the sector will have to solve in the short and medium term”. At the end of his speech, Vicente Boluda encouraged the students to continue training on a daily basis, as “training is one of the main pillars for increasing the competitiveness of companies”.
After his speech, Vicente Boluda received an award for his outstanding professional career from the general director of APV.
Afterwards, the closing ceremony of the 32nd edition of the Master’s Degree began, in which the academic director of the programme, Vicent Esteban Chapapría, took the floor and highlighted the great novelty of the next edition of the MGPT, “all those professionals in the logistics sector who can accredit at least four years of work experience and who do not have completed university studies will be able to take this Master’s Degree”. “The new Law on Universities took up a historical demand, which is to recognise professional experience to enable access to university education”, an option also demanded by companies in the sector. For her part, the Director of Training at Fundación Valenciaport, Ana Rumbeu, presented diplomas to the 19 students from previous editions who have completed their Master’s degree projects.
Right after that, Pepe Zapata and Cynthya Avescasis, students of the 32nd edition, gave a speech on behalf of the students who finished their academic programme yesterday.
The general director of Fundación Valenciaport, Antonio Torregrosa, then took the floor to congratulate all the students for their efforts during the course, and underlined the importance of the collaboration with the companies in the sector that host the students for their internships. “This support is fundamental for the comprehensive training of our students”, “thanks to this immersion in the day-to-day work of the companies they manage to significantly increase their employability”.
Finally, Fundación Valenciaport’s Training Director, Ana Rumbeu, proceeded to the presentation of metopas of recognition to these companies that collaborate regularly with the Master “for their commitment to our internship students”. The Master Programme (MGPT)
The Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport (MGPT), whose 33rd edition will begin on 17 October, is owned by the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), is directed by Fundación Valenciaport and, since the 27th edition, is the own title of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). The programme consists of 60 ECTS credits that correspond to 600 teaching hours, including content and final master’s degree work.
The MGPT has established itself as the most internationally prestigious training programme in Spanish, specialising in ports and transport, and has found a wide echo among professionals and postgraduates in Spain, Europe and Latin America.
A key element of this Master’s programme is its high percentage of employability, which is around 100%, thanks to the high level of training received and the internships carried out by students in companies in the sector.
