Valencia, 3 April 2025 – The international association Terminal Industry Committee 4.0 (TIC4.0) held its General Assembly today at the facilities of The Terminal Hub, in the Port of Valencia, an event organised by Fundación Valenciaport, which holds the General Secretariat of the association.
This meeting, which brought together more than 60 delegates from TIC4.0 partner organisations, aimed to share the advances in digital standardisation of processes and operations in port terminals.
Among the most relevant initiatives promoted by the association, it is worth mentioning the development of a semantic standard that makes it possible to describe any operational process carried out in port terminals, and at the same time generate a digital replica of this process using a harmonised language (ICT4.0 language). The association is also in the process of obtaining a Public Available Specification (PAS) in collaboration with the British Standard Institution as a preliminary step to the development of an ISO standard that aims to be the world reference in operational standardisation for terminals.
The TIC4.0 General Assembly took place one day after the Container Terminal Automation Europe conference, organised by Port Technology. This allowed participants to connect the discussions on automation and digitisation with the strategic initiatives of TIC4.0, reinforcing their commitment to the modernisation of the port sector globally.
TIC4.0 is an international not-for-profit association of 66 organisations worldwide including global terminal operators, port equipment and machinery manufacturers, as well as digital solutions developers.
