The general objective of the project was to study the role of Valenciaport in the logistics chains for the import and export of finished vehicles from the industrial area of Almussafes. A further aim was to analyse possible short- and medium-term scenarios relating to opportunities arising from the use of rail in connection with the port.

The specific objective of the study was to serve as a basis for relevant decision-making by Ford and the PAV on the change (or not) of the logistics model, and to carry out the necessary actions. The study included an in-depth analysis of the different alternatives for connecting the Ford plant in Almussafes with the Port of Valencia, including the rail option, addressing both the technical and operational solutions as well as a detailed cost analysis. The study was subsequently extended to account for not only flows of finished vehicles but also containerised freight flows.
