The aim of the project was the design of SITCOMEX (Foreign Trade Shipping Identification System) for the Chilean Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications. The system is comprised of the following components:
- A transaction system to validate information between transport companies and their resources: lorries and drivers:
This system can be browsed and the scope of design includes the technical, financial and regulatory feasibility analysis of its implementation, taking into account that the system will interoperate with the systems of the different stakeholders, namely the ports, terminals, logistics operators, shipping companies, as well as the Public Services systems which it will validate against, providing it with up-to-date information about both the companies and the drivers.
- A web-based registration module for freight companies, their fleet of lorries and drivers.
The web has identification forms and user profiles. The registered information is validated against the transaction system described above.
As a result of the software design work carried out by Fundación Valenciaport, in December 2017, the Chilean Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications was able to official unveil SITCOMEX to its port community, successfully carrying out the initial pilot testing in early 2018.
